Adventures in Software Development

It’s a pretty typical day here at Orpheum’s offices. We’re developing a processing Infrastructure-as-a-Service, um, service, and part of that requires a module for our billing and automation software so that our clients can instantly start new cloud servers, suspend them, delete them, etc. The same type of service you get from Amazon, GoGrid, OpSource, Rackspace, etc.

Well, little did we know that browsing through some other modules would lead to this discussion that just happened.

Dev 1: Oh my god… lol_cat! Who uses that as a function name?!?!?! I’m no Rembrandt, but I can think of better things to name your list function.
Dev 2: Yeah, like long_cat.
Dev 1: I wonder if he used ceiling_cat anywhere in this? *facepalm* He did.
Dev 2: LOL

Isn’t software development fun?!
